Chinese Character Writing
In Grade 5 & 6 history the students are studying ancient Chinese civilization. In class the students learned how to write some Chinese characters with traditional calligraphy brushes. It was a fun and very meditational activity. We made the traditional ink together by taking turns to grind the inkstick against the inkstone with a small amount of water for half an hour. After that the students practiced how to write the characters properly. Everyone stayed focused and did a very good and creative job!
