Getting Ready for March Break

Playschool's airport is open for business as students make preparations for travelling.

Making our Canadian passports.

Deciding where to go? Learning about what happens at the airport.

  Then picking up boarding passes.

Stamping our passports.

Checking flight arrivals and departures.

Choosing where to go? "That's New Zealand!"

Getting ready on the plane. Are we all here?

Thank you for flying Olivet Airlines. Fasten your seat belts, here we Go!

Wishing all our families an enjoyable March Break wherever you go.

Playschool's January Review

January has been a cold and windy month with not much snow. When we did receive some, Playschool took advantage with toboggans and shovels.

Inside the classroom we have been making observations about temperature, melting snow and ice.
Discoveries about animals who live above and below the surface of the ice in the Arctic and Antarctic.
 What is winter without snowman?
As a class we recited the verse "Snowman, snowman what do you see? I see a yellow scarf looking at me." Children used the dressing props to repeat the verse using all the winter dressing apparel items.

Students often support learning of other students in class. Here an older student guides and encourages a younger student identifying how many snowflake pasta's belong on the cards.

Going "Squirrelly"

Playschool is going "squirrelly". They are busily leaning some squirrel facts, searching for and organizing nuts and feeling pretty frisky.
These are pictures of the students with our very own resident squirrel friend.

Raking Leaves

Today was a fabulous opportunity to get out and experience a fall day.

A cool, overcast day, wearing boots and coats while raking wet leaves into a pile. We each took turns to participate in our action verse. Later, we ran to catch falling leaves disturbed by the wind. Some friends actually caught some!

Playschool Olympics

As the Sochi Winter Olympics have come to a close, so have the Playschool 2014 Olympics. Yesterday they held their opening ceremonies and sang an enthusiastic rendition of "O'Canada" to kick off the start of the games. The participating Olympians each marched in the ceremony with their torch and their very own coloured-in flag.

Their Olympic Games featured hockey, speed skating, skeleton, luge and curling. The Olympians celebrated all their victories and losses with equal enthusiasm and all the Olympians were decorated with medals. Congratulations Olympians!
