Happy Mother's Day!

The students in Olivet School's Senior Room, Grades 5 and 6, made their mothers these special bouquets for Mother's Day. By carefully folding, the students were able to make these beautiful origami flowers. As you can see, each student picked out the colours that their mom would like best and no two bouquets are alike. These were not only beautiful and a great gift for mom, they were also a lot of fun to make!

Origami promotes fine motor skills that also assist students with skills such as handwriting. It has long been known that origami has many benefits like developing eye hand co-ordination, sequencing skills, attention skills, patience, temporal spatial skills, math reasoning etc. but according to the latest research on the brain, when both hands are engaged, impellent motor impulses activate the language portion of the brain.

Parents, students and Olivet School teachers love the Olivet community for its caring, home-like quality, very small class sizes and its rich academic program taught with a foundation in Christian values, if you have been looking for elementary education which combines the strength of top quality teaching with the individual attention and opportunities of a personalized learning community, then you too will love Olivet School.
