Earth Board

In recognition of the work that our students put in last week (and some of them over the weekend as well!), Ms. Petersen and Mrs. Gatti put together a board recognizing that each child can make a difference.

Spring Boards

One of the great things about working at Olivet New Church School is watching the display boards change over time. The Playschool and Primary Room have both put together fun displays showing important things that happen in the spring season. The children have had a lot of fun working on them.

Earth Day: Doing Our Part

In support of Earth Day our classes spent time cleaning up trash from around the property. Everyone did a great job. The Primary Room found a lot of large, interesting items!

Spring has sprung; we like to run!

If you were a student at a great school where teachers are flexible and want to take advantage of the nicest day of the year thus far, what do you think you could do? Our Primary Room took advantage of the beautiful weather and spent a lot of time outside this morning. For starters, everyone (including the teacher!) had a fun run across the play field. Spring + Kids = Fun!

Greenhouse Trip

After they took part in the Last Supper reenactment, the Kindergarten class enjoyed the gardens at the Centennial Greenhouse. They saw beautiful flowers and an amazing naturally occuring cloud that formed due to shifts in the greenhouse's microclimate!

Last Supper

This morning, the Kindergarten and Morning Playschool joined together to pretend that they were attending the Last Supper. Everyone was able to try some unleavened bread and grape juice and think about what it might have been like for Lord and His disciples to dine together.

Natural Egg Dye

The playschool had a wonderful time colouring Easter eggs today. We used a natural process that you could use at home (but be warned...it takes a LONG time for the colour to "stick").
We used yellow onion skins, red onion skins, spinach, loose tea and beets.

Fluffy Bunnies

In celebration of spring, which is surely just around the corner, the Kindergarten class has made wonderful fluffy bunnies. Someday soon, maybe we'll see real bunnies hopping around our playfield!

Palm Procession Practice

The Playschool and Kindergarten got together this morning to re-enact the Lord's triumphant entry on Palm Sunday. The children waved palm branches and shouted "hosanna!" as everyone had a chance to try riding on the "donkey." Everyone is invited to join us for the Palm Procession at church this Sunday at 10:30 in the morning!

New Friends

Over the past several days, we have been able to welcome a number of new faces to our Playschool and Kindergarten classrooms. Our Kindergarten is now a wonderful mix of six children who are doing a great job of learning and playing together.
